Cost Advisor — Terms of Service

Last updated: August 19, 2026 | Effective date: April 3, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Cost Advisor application ("Application"), a Snowflake Native App provided by Tabby Stack ("Provider," "we," "us," or "our"). By installing or using the Application, you ("Consumer," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of the Application

Cost Advisor is a free, read-only Snowflake Native App that analyzes your Snowflake account usage data and provides cost-saving recommendations. The Application:

  • Reads data from Snowflake ACCOUNT_USAGE and ORGANIZATION_USAGE views
  • Analyzes warehouse utilization, storage costs, query patterns, and governance gaps
  • Generates optimization recommendations with estimated savings
  • Displays results through an interactive web dashboard

The Application is an analytical tool only. It does not execute changes to your Snowflake account, modify your data, or alter any configuration.

2. License Grant

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Application within your Snowflake account, subject to these Terms. This license is provided at no cost.

3. Privileges and Access

The Application requires the following privileges to function:

  • CREATE COMPUTE POOL — to run the optimizer's container service
  • CREATE WAREHOUSE — to provision an X-Small warehouse to query ACCOUNT_USAGE
  • BIND SERVICE ENDPOINT — to expose the optimizer web UI as a service endpoint
  • IMPORTED PRIVILEGES ON SNOWFLAKE DB — to read ACCOUNT_USAGE views for cost analysis, and to reach Cortex for the optional AI audit
  • EXECUTE TASK — to schedule the optional daily cost digest; the task exists only if you enable email alerts and is dormant otherwise

Snowsight prompts for all five at install, whether or not you ever enable the digest. This list is the complete set. The Application identifies the current user with CURRENT_USER(), which requires no additional privilege.

You are responsible for granting these privileges. The Application will function with limited capabilities if privileges are not granted, showing an access notice instead of live account data.

4. Data Handling

4.1 Read-Only Access

The Application performs only SELECT queries against Snowflake system views. It does not INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, or otherwise modify any data in your account outside of its own internal application database.

4.2 Data Residency

All data accessed by the Application remains within your Snowflake account. The Application does not export, transmit, or copy your data to any external system, third-party service, or the Provider's infrastructure.

The single exception is the optional email digest described in 4.5, which is off unless you enable it, is delivered by Snowflake rather than by the Application, and can only reach verified email addresses of users in your own account.

4.3 Internal Storage

The Application creates internal tables (within its own application database) to cache query results and store configuration preferences such as pricing rates. These tables are deleted when you uninstall the Application.

4.4 Telemetry

The Application shares anonymized error and warning telemetry with Snowflake as required by the Snowflake Native App framework. This telemetry contains only application-level error messages and does not include your account data, query results, or personally identifiable information. See our Privacy Policy for details.

4.5 Optional Email Alerts

The Application can send a daily digest of detected anomalies and cost opportunities by email. This feature is disabled by default and requires you to create a Snowflake notification integration and grant the Application permission to use it. No email is sent until you do both.

When enabled, the digest names warehouses and describes findings from your account. Snowflake performs the delivery; the Application does not transmit it. Snowflake will only deliver to verified email addresses of users in your own account, so the digest cannot reach the Provider or anyone without a login on your account. You may disable it at any time from the Application's console.

5. Recommendations Disclaimer

Cost estimates and optimization recommendations provided by the Application are heuristic-based approximations. They are intended as informational guidance only and should be validated against your specific environment and requirements before applying any changes. The Provider does not guarantee the accuracy of savings estimates or the suitability of recommendations for your workload.

6. No Warranty

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APPLICATION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY CONTENT OR RECOMMENDATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.

7. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL TABBY STACK, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APPLICATION.

BECAUSE THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APPLICATION SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Tabby Stack and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Application, any actions you take based on the Application's recommendations, or your violation of these Terms.

9. Termination

You may terminate your use of the Application at any time by uninstalling it from your Snowflake account:

DROP APPLICATION TABBY_COST_OPTIMIZER;

We may discontinue or modify the Application at any time. All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including warranty disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification.

10. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be made available through the Application listing on the Snowflake Marketplace. Your continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall be conducted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

12. General Provisions

Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Tabby Stack regarding the Application and supersede any prior agreements.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to be valid and enforceable.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent.
